AC Milan transfer plans revealed
The alarming injury crisis has forced AC Milan and Leonardo to change their transfer plans and purchase more players than initially intended.
The injury crisis continues to deepen at Milanello. After Lucas Biglia (out 4 months), Mattia Caldara (out 3 months), Mateo Musacchio (out 8 weeks), Andrea Conti (to make his debut in late December), AC Milan have lost even Giacomo Bonaventura (out 5 months) while the conditions of captain Alessio Romagnoli are still unclear. With Jack and Biglia injured, coach Gennaro Gattuso has lost the entire creative axis in midfield.
The Rossoneri were very active on the transfer market even before the injury curse started but the recent happenings have forced sporting director Leonardo and his right-hand man Paolo Maldini to accelerate negotiations with several targets.
So far, the Rossoneri have signed only Lucas Paqueta. The extremely talented Brazil star will join Gattuso’s side in mid-December but he will be eligible to play in January. The 21 year old Brazil international can play as central midfielder, attacking midfielder and left winger too.
According to Sky Sport, AC Milan will make at least three more purchases when the winter transfer window opens. The initial plans have changed, and taking into consideration the recent situation, Leonardo will bring at San Siro a defender, a midfielder and a new centre forward. If the club sacrifices a top player in January (read here) then the management could move with more ease on the market and increase the number of arrival to 4 or 5.
There are many profiles that Leonardo is scouting with great interest (read here) but two are the most important operations. Zenit star Leandro Paredes is AC Milan top choice in midfield (read here) while regarding the attack Ibrahimovic leads the way. Contacts with his agent Mino Raiola look promising and the Swedish giant may make his return at San Siro very soon.
